Chemical spillage shuts A3

By Surrey and Hants News in Emergency Services

A chemical spill caused tailbacks on the A3 on Thursday afternoon.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue sent crews from Petersfield, Cosham and Winchester to deal with the spillage on the northbound carriageway near the Ham Barn roundabout junction with Andlers Ash Road.

Both lanes were initially closed following the accident at about 2pm, causing long queues heading north. One lane was reopened an hour later, but the second lane remained closed until 9am this morning (Friday).
