Dog lovers are holding a jumble sale on August 12 to raise money for Give a Dog a Home.
The charity, founded in 2013, has a network of 10 dog fosterers in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent who look after dogs rescued from appalling conditions in Romania, Greece and Cyprus.
So far 420 dogs have been brought to the UK and eventually found new homes, like Charlie (pictured). Twenty are living in this newspaper’s circulation area.
Fosterers help the dogs adjust to living in a home environment, recover from malnourishment and anxieties, and learn how to be a companion so they are ready to be adopted.
New fosterers, dog transporters and fundraisers are always needed. For details see giveadogahome.org.uk/dogs-for-adoption.
The jumble sale will be held in the garden of The Cricketers pub in Kingsley from noon until 2pm. More jumble and bric-a-brac would be appreciated. To donate items, call 01420 477217.
The Cricketers will be running a motor treasure hunt, in aid of Give a Dog a Home and the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, in early September.
