Charity anglers help Kingsley Centre

Members and guests of the Oakhanger Angling Club staged a charity angling competition at the Kingsley Pond on July 23.

Despite the heavy rain, 19 anglers took part and helped raise more than £500 for the Kingsley Centre. The winner was guest angler David Lake, from Haslemere Angling Club.

As well as the fishing competition, a barbecue was held on the bankside, organised by Kevin Ironman, and a large raffle was also held. Local businesses contributed the raffle prizes.

The event organiser Keith Wickens said that the day had been a great success despite the weather, and he hoped that the charity match would become an annual fixture for the Oakhanger Angling club.

Club chairman John Gamble congratulated all the anglers who had taken part and all those who helped, including local businesses who had donated to the raffle.
