Bordon and Whitehill Voluntary Car Service is in urgent need of more drivers and has put out a call for volunteers to come forward.
Frank Williams-Thomas from the service said: “If you have any time to spare, and could help our community, and would like to join a team with a happy and supportive atmosphere, please get in touch with our co-ordinator.
“Our service is being wanted more and more, and any assistance, even if only once a month, will enable us provide help to those who need transport to a local surgery or hospital.”
Drivers are able to make as many or as few trips as they wish, and no pressure is put on drivers to volunteer.
Driving for the service should not affect car insurance, although the insurance company will need to be informed. Expenses are reimbursed to the limit set by the Inland Revenue for voluntary drivers.
“We only have 20 drivers,” Mr Williams-Thomas added. “So far we have never had to say we cannot do a trip, but the requests are rising rapidly, and this is near to happening.
“Please give us a ring on 01420 473636, where our co-ordinator can tell you more. We really need your help.”
