The 2017 Specsavers Surrey Youth Games saw every borough and district in the county win medals, with Woking winning first prize and the overall Borough Trophy and Waverley coming in sixth.
The Olympic-style event - which hosted more than 2,000 young people in 286 teams - took place on June 17-18 at the Surrey Sports Park and witnessed 16 fiercely competed sports ranging from squash to swimming, and badminton to boccia.
There had been a similarly high demand for the free sport training places provided by the boroughs, with almost 4,500 slots taken up by local young people.
Waverley’s junior girls netball team (school years seven and eight) won gold and in the senior girls’ football (school years five and six) Waverley took silver. There were also three bronzes for Waverley: contact mixed boxing (school years six to 11); senior mixed squash (school years five and six) and senior boys’ judo (school years six to 11).
