Petersfield-based women’s running group Runnyhoneys has launched a six-week ‘Couch to 5k’ course in Whitehill and Bordon, after a lot of interest at the Spring into Health festival organised by East Hampshire District Council.
Runnyhoneys was formed to give women the chance to socialise and keep fit at the same time.
The group held a beginners’ running session at the festival to give people a taste of what Runnyhoneys is all about. It had such good feedback the group is launching the club in Whitehill and Bordon.
Sue Browne, founder of Runnyhoneys and run leader, said: “The Spring into Health festival was an amazing event which enabled us to launch Runnyhoneys in Whitehill and Bordon.
“We had a lot of fun with the five women who took part in our taster session; they all seemed extremely keen on our concept. We then announced our ‘Couch to 5k’ course and were completely taken aback by the level of interest.
“Since the festival we have had to ramp up to three sessions per week to satisfy the demand, and now have 33 runners who are in their third week of the course. It’s fair to say that Runnyhoneys is in Whitehill and Bordon to stay.”
