Plans for the redevelopment of Guildford Crematorium will be on show today (Tuesday, May 23rd).
The proposed design for new crematorium buildings, improved access and better car parking are going on show at the crematorium ahead of a planning application which will be submitted this summer.
Cllr Matt Furniss, Deputy Leader of Guildford Borough Council and lead councillor for infrastructure and governance, said: “We are investing £10 million in a project to rebuild our crematorium at the existing site, which will help meet the changing needs of our population and offer better facilities and a supportive, inclusive and caring environment for the bereaved.
“We have been working closely with the key groups who use our services to develop these plans. Now we would like to hear from our residents: please come along and take a look. We want to create a peaceful, welcoming environment for people to remember their loved ones, and welcome feedback on our plans.”
The session will run from 2.30pm to 4pm. There is no need to book.
Work on the main building will begin next spring, subject to planning permission being granted, and is due to be completed in May 2019.
