A memorial service will be held in Fernhurst in November to mark the 50th anniversary of the aircraft crash at Blackdown, near Haslemere, which killed 37 people.

Just after 10pm on Saturday, November 4th 1967, the Iberia Airlines Caravelle crashed into the slopes of Blackdown, on the Fernhurst/Haslemere border, killing all 37 passengers and crew.

The memorial service will take place at St Margaret’s Church, Fernhurst, on Saturday, November 4th. There will also be an exhibition in the village hall on November 4th and 5th.

The commemorations are supported by Fernhurst Archive, Fernhurst Parish Council and St Margaret’s Church. More details will be released in the summer.
